Biography Hildegard Thilo

Hedwig and Hildegard Thilo were identical twins, and were known in the family as "The Twins." I could never tell them apart, and was once told that the only person who could was their mother! They nearly always dressed in identical clothing, and seemed to possess identical items in the house. Neither of the twins married, and they lived together throughout their life. Born in St. Pölten, they moved with the family when their father retired, and then remained in the family house in Modling, near Vienna, where they were both well known characters in the town. Their two main interests in life were their dogs, and sewing. They kept a number of prize dogs, which they took to shows across Austria. They enjoyed sewing and embroidery, and would often demonstrate embroidery and sewing machines locally.
